Family and Friends,
I hope you all had a great New Year. We sure did! It was pretty fun because our mission president again allowed us to watch some movies like the Best Two Years and 17 Miracles. My companion hadn't seen 17 Miracles before and was pretty much in awe the entire time. Those people definitely went through more than I could physically handle. I love that movie! This has been one heck of a week! We've done a lot in terms of setting up appointments. We have up to 14 set up for this week, and I am hoping and praying that none of them fall through. We have 4 or 5 new potential investigators who actually seem interested in learning more about the church due to family and friends who are members. We're also doing a lot more now in terms of working with members. We have pinpointed several active-member families who we're going to teach the missionary lessons to in hopes that this gets people more motivated to invite their friends to learn more!
Teaching people about the Gospel is so fun. I have never enjoyed anything so much as when we actually teach a good lesson in which people feel the Spirit. I was reading in 2 Nephi 2 this morning in my personal study and I came across an awesome scripture:
8 Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise.
9 Wherefore, he is the first fruits unto God, inasmuch as he shall make intercession for all the children of men; and they that believe in him shall be saved.
That's exactly why the Lord commands us to do missionary work. It's because of how important and vital it is that people know that they need to rely on Christ. I'm grateful for the Christmas season, for church and for everything and everyone that helps me to remember that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Make sure to pray and search for missionary experiences, and then to be ready to act on the promptings when they come! Keep in touch!
Love,
Elder Jones
