Hey everyone!
Sorry about the late email! Yesterday was Labor Day so the library was closed. I hope everyone is doing well, and just want you all to know that I love you all so much!
Things here are going well too. This last week we didn't have much going on because the school year just started and people are just getting back into the swing of things with summer and vacations being over. We still were able to do a lot of awesome things this past week. For one, we were able to attend the temple. The Las Vegas Temple is so amazingly beautiful, I was just so happy to be able to spend a few hours there. I even received answers to some questions that I have had.
I also began my 2nd transfer last week! It's crazy how time flies. I just hope that I can make the most of the Lord's time, seeing as I have been called here to serve Him for two years. My trainer was also just called as District Leader. He's such a good Elder in that he knows his purpose and he really wants to fulfill it as best as he can.
One thing that I have been thinking a lot about is the commandments. Heavenly Father gives them to us for our protection, but also for our growth and improvement. He wants us to become like Him; he wouldn't give us any commandment or law that He doesn't already live Himself. I remember how Dad committed me to "obey with exactness". I don't want to lie and say that I have been perfect at it so far, but I can definitely say that I have seen the difference between how I feel when I obey with exactness and when I don't. I'm clearly not as effective in finding or teaching, or any other situation that I get myself into if I haven't prepared myself well enough. I'm trying so hard, but sometimes I feel like a mess up and need to give up, but God doesn't ask us to be perfect, He just asks us to be willing.
I found a scripture in Mosiah 2:22 that illustrates my point nicely:
I found a scripture in Mosiah 2:22 that illustrates my point nicely:
And behold, all that he requires of you is to keep his commandments; and he has promised you that if ye would keep his commandments ye should prosper in the land; and he never doth vary from that which he hath said; therefore, if ye do keep his commandments he doth bless you and prosper you.
All that Heavenly Father requires of us is to keep the commandments. We just need to be willing to give up our pride so that we can submit our will to His and keep an eye single to His glory. If we do so, He will bless us in ways we can't imagine.
Like I said, it's been a bit of a slow week so no really neat or crazy stories to tell. Hopefully there are more next week, but until then, I love you all!
Stay safe, keep in touch, and be good!
Love,
Elder Jones
